Laurent

A "Meat Puppet" born from Aldric's desperate experiments to cling to mortal life, Laurent is an amalgamate of slain warriors given one form. Originally designed as a replacement body for the dying god's soul, in Laurent's own words, he is an abject failure in his creator's eyes. Following this failure, Laurent was discarded, left to rot away as a soulless, nameless piece of cold refuse in the flesh dungeons of his birth.

He watched with silent eyes, as his childlike feelings of filial love for Aldric collpased under the weight of hatred and betrayal of being discarded, abandoned. However, Machya, the goddess of the Ashuran people, was heart broken at the sight of the remains of her children that comprised Laurent's form. With her tears, she gave him the gift of conciousness, a unique soul of his own, and in doing so, inadvertently made him ruler of his own destiny.

In the age of Laurent's creation, the Ashuran people were at calamitous civil war. Without second thought, he gave in to his natural talents for sheer violence. He quickly proved himself nigh unstoppable in combat, using his substantial size, strength and speed to utterly crush his foes and send dread into their hearts. However, Amid the overwhelming chaos and the collpase of Ashuran society, he failed once again, as his holy goddess, Machya, was slain.

With no attachments to humankind or the world, Laurent became dejected. Even as Aldric himself was crushed, as Ashuran cities burned, as everything but the light of the sun was snuffed out, Laurent withdrew from the world. Time tested his apparent immortality, as he sat alone on the outskirts of Ashura, staring silently into the sea. The cosmos span above him, unabated and unforgiving, even at the magnitude of his loss. Sunset after sunset, sunrise after sunrise, a century passed, and he would not move. He would not speak. He merely awaited the collapse of the earth beneath him.

That was until, a red-cloaked sorcerer approached him. Aldric had returned from the dead. He spoke of a black-haired maiden held in a castle a thousand leagues away. Claimed her to be Machya reborn. Laurent stood. The world would collapse whether he was waiting for it or not. Out of pure curiosity, he reluctantly obeyed his creator's commands once again. He would find Castle Umbrage, and kidnap this maiden for himself. He had to see her, had to test Aldric's lies. He stepped into the ocean, and began the long journey across the bottom of the sea.
